BOLIA KANNEO

The bed used by the high caste natives of the Maldive Islands is the most important article of furniture in the houses, in fact, it is almost the only one, and they are made as ornamental as possible. The Gottodic, or mattress, is cloth covered. The Bittdorhi Kanneo is the silk pillow for the back of the bed, the Bolia Kanneo the silk pillow for the right side, and the Fahlia Kanneo the silk pillow for the left side. Over these pillows is spread a beautiful ornamented mat of sedge fibre in black, white and pale-brown colours.
